A & W is a popular fast food chain set all across North America. It all started in 1922 when two men, Roy Allen and Frank Wright began a Root Beer business. They got the name A & W from there last names. A & W was probably the first drive-in restaurant ever. By 1960 they had about 2000 restaurants, and in 1971 they began to supply bottled A & W products to grocery stores. The franchise only had a menu from 1978 and on, before that all they sold was Root Beer.
