Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Magical Car is a children's story written by Ian Flemming. 'It was first published in 1964 by Jonathan Cape in London and Random House in New York.' This amazing novel was later made into a very successful musical film in 1968. Many different plays and versions have been written about this story. The versions used for theatre and films were originally written by Roald Dahl. The production has won 5 Tony Awards for best actors and actresses as well as Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design.

The Flintstones

The Flinstones, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, is one of the most famous American Animated TV series. It is based on the live-action sitcom The Honeymooners of the 1950's. From 1960 to 1966 the show ran six seasons in a row for American prime time on ABC. The cartoon takes place in the Stone Age, in a town called Bedrock. The main characters of the show are Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty. The show presents a fantasy version of the prehistoric past with Dinosaurs, Saber-tooth tigers and other extinct mammals.

Harry Jerome


Harry Winston Jerome was born on Sept. 10, 1940 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. At the age of nineteen, Harry ran the hundred meter dash in 10 seconds, hand timed! 'Jerome ran the record time at the Olympic trials in Saskatoon, Sask. on the Griffiths Stadium Track. Jerome also shared the world record for the hundred yards, for the 440 yard relay as part of the Oregon team, and held the world indoor 60 yard record.' Jerome placed third at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, despite having a severe hamstring injury. Harry passed on December 7, 1982 at the age of 42. 'The Harry Jerome International Track Classic - a prestigious track and field meet held annually at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, British Columbia - is named in Jerome's honour'. Aswell, a bronze statue is dedicated to him in Stanley Park in Vancouver, and in 2001 he was inducted into Canada's Walk Of Fame.

Istanbul not Constantinople

'Istanbul (Not Constantinople) is a swing-style song, written by Jimmy Kennedy and Nat Simon. It is based on the music for "Puttin' on the Ritz", written by Irving Berlin in 1929.' It was originally performed by 'The Four Lads' on August 12, 1953. It was then released by Columbia Records. The song peaked at #10 on the Billboard Charts in 1953. 'The song was later famously covered by the rock group They Might Be Giants, who released it on their LP Flood in 1990, and on its own EP that same year.' This song turned centuries of ethnic and religious struggles into a catchy tune.

The Ed Allen's show

Ed Allen is the host of his own his exercise show, called The Ed Allen's show. The Canadian production team of Jean Mathieson and Al Guest produced 195 episodes of the show. They aired from October 12, 1964 to June 25, 1973 on KVTV-TV. There was also a book written about Ed Allen’s exercise techniques called, ‘The Ed Allen Exercise Book.' Hundreds of viewers followed his endless aerobics. When it came to exercise, he was the king!
